Join us in-person or on Zoom when we discuss the 2024 silver medal winner in non-fiction, Daughter of the Dragon: Anna May Wong's Rendezvous with American History, with author Yunte Huang. This entertaining and informative look at one of America's first silver screen celebrities tells of Chinese-American actress Anna May Wong's trials with what American filmgoers and the film industry wanted to see on screen—that was not necessarily a beautiful Asian woman co-starring with non-Asian men. This book takes us back to a time of misogyny and racism that was all too accepted.
This program will be held in Zoom; registrants will receive a link to the Zoom program.
