San Francisco Chronicle columnist Barbara Lane has described Shruti Swamy's The Archer as "a coming-of-age novel set in 1970s Bombay. A key element of the book is Kathak, a classical dance form."
This California Book Awards 2022 gold medal winner gives us insight not only into a young South Asian woman's life but also into how her love of Kathak stabilizes her life. The images of India are vibrant and memorable.
Join us in-person or online to hear directly from the author (who will join us via Zoom) and to share your thoughts and questions on the book and the issues it raises.
This program has 2 types of tickets available: In-person and online-only. For online viewing, pre-register to receive a link to the live-stream event.

Our LEED Gold-certified building is designed to cool with outside air, using digitally controlled moveable windows and large ceiling fans. We are deploying additional HEPA filters inside to scrub the air. This is all in addition to increased cleaning of surfaces throughout the building.
We welcome donations made during registration to support the production of our online programming.
