A Year of COVID-19

On March 18, 2020, The Commonwealth Club of California presented its first program on COVID-19. Most of Club staff were in the first full day of a region-wide "shelter-in-place" order, and more than 2,000 people registered for our first digital program on the then-emerging pandemic.

Over the past year, as the pandemic changed the lives of everyone in the Bay Area (and across the United States), no one issue was more significant than the COVID-19 pandemic. As a public forum to discuss the leading issues of the day, the Club has presented more than 100 programs on different aspects of the crisis since mid-March 2020, and more than 400 digital programs overall.

Now, as the Bay Area recognizes the one-year anniversary of the region-wide shelter in place orders that influenced how the country approached the pandemic, we are looking back and looking ahead at the COVID-19 public health emergency, with key national officials, public health leaders and data advocates. See our upcoming programs below, and please support the Club as we enter Year Two of the COVID-19 pandemic and finally see the light at the end of the tunnel of a health crisis that will, likely, alter our region for years to come.
