Humanities MLF program

Member-Led Forums

Member-led Forums (MLFs) are a volunteer-driven division of Commonwealth Club programming. These diverse and timely programs cover a wide range of topics on an ongoing basis throughout the year. They range from large events to intimate discussions with speakers, from art shows and restaurant visits to book discussion groups. MLFs are volunteer-run, organized by Club members who coordinate programs within specific areas of interest.

Personal Growth

The mission of the Personal Growth member-led forum is to support personal development of our members and provide them with opportunities for skill enhancement and growth in all areas of life. We do this by having events that help build community among ourselves and by bringing in speakers in areas such as relationships, creativity, life path, and spirituality.

"I've always been interested in personal growth, and over 10 years ago, while working as a research director at Gartner, I started taking evening classes at Stanford, participating in personal growth retreats, and reading extensively. This has been a fascinating journey, especially with the explosive growth of evidence-based positive psychology and mindfulness over the past few years. My goal as a member of the Personal Growth member-led forum is to help create inspiring and credible programs for members and to help build a community among us all."
