Memo to the President Elect

Madeleine Albright, the first woman to serve as U.S. Secretary of State, will discuss the necessary steps our next president should take in order to rebuild our standing in the world and ensure a strong and secure future for our nation.

Albright currently heads The Albright Group LLC, a global strategy firm, which she founded in June, 2001. She is also the Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at the Georgetown School of Foreign Service, the first Distinguished Scholar of the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan Business School, and serves on the Board of Directors of the New York Stock Exchange.

As part of President Clinton’s foreign policy team for eight years, Albright’s accomplishments also include: the expansion and modernization of NATO and NATO's successful campaign to end ethnic cleansing in Kosovo; the promotion of peace in the Balkans; the reduction of nuclear dangers from Russia; the expansion of democracy in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America; the expansion of our relationship with China, including trade as well as human rights; and the growth of trade in the Americas and in Africa through the African Growth Opportunity Act.

A native to Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic, Albright immigrated to America in 1948 where she received her B.A. from Wellesley College and her Masters and Doctorate Degrees from Columbia University.
