Larry Harvey-Founder & Executive Director, Burning Man; Director, Black Rock City LLC (7/20/2006)

Duration
1:05:50

In 1986, Larry Harvey went to Baker Beach with a few friends to burn an 8-foot tall wooden man for Summer Solstice. This year nearly 30,000 people joined Larry for Burning Man in Nevada's Black Rock Desert. Burning Man is an experiment in temporary community dedicated to radical self-expression and self-reliance, inviting its 'citizens' to express themselves in ways that are often a dramatic departure from their daily lives. While art is the backbone of Burning Man, other tenets include no vending, no commercialism and "leave no trace."
