Twenty-first-century China is central to the resolution of the global economic downturn, environmental pollution and climate change. In 1996, foreseeing the importance of working with Chinese communities and leaders, NRDC opened its China office in Beijing. NRDC's efforts have resulted in diverse, varied experiences and observations, and a look into what the future may hold for China at the crossroads of economic and environmental sustainability.
