Venezuela, Iran and Ukraine are only the latest in a long string of what have become known as interventions for regime change. But where did this idea come from, and when did it become an option in the strategic arsenal of global politics?
There are plenty of questions to be asked and answered about its legality and about its effectiveness, and we will go through each of those questions one by one during this talk.
About the Speaker
Darren Zook teaches in global studies and political science at UC Berkeley. His areas of interest include international relations, comparative politics, human rights, and international law. His extensive research initiatives have continuously grown into an unusually broad portfolio of international and comparative projects, and his work has taken him to various parts of Asia, Latin America, the Pacific Islands, Africa and northern Europe.
