Climate One will celebrate SF Climate Week with a series of programs featuring leading voices in climate, from local to global, with insightful conversations that acknowledge today’s challenging political reality while showcasing what’s doable and sparks joy in the climate community.
Monday's programs include:
12–1 p.m. | Protest and Beyond: Annie Leonard On What More You Can Do
Protest is the ultimate in equal-opportunity political action. That idea kicks off Annie Leonard’s new book Protest: Respect It. Defend It. Use It. And yet protest is only the loudest, most visible tool. Many others are at least as powerful. As Annie herself says, "Making change is like laying a stone path across the garden. Peaceful protest may be every 4th or 8th or 200th stone; it helps us get where we want to go but also we need a lot of other stones too."
Through community building, through civic engagement, through elected office, through corporate boardrooms, through churches and nonprofit agencies, there are countless paths to exercising power and promoting positive change. Join Climate One Co-host Kousha Navidar in conversation with three leaders working in three different arenas, all toward the same goal:
- Annie Leonard, Environmental Activist, Author of Protest: Respect It. Defend It. Use It.
- Danielle Lee, Founder, Climate Action Club
- James Coleman, City Councilor, South San Francisco
1–1:30 p.m. | Lunch & Book Signing with Annie Leonard
As we prepare to welcome our next guests on stage, we’ll break for some lunch. Annie Leonard will join us to sign copies of her book.
1:30–2:30 p.m. | Climate Wayfinding: An Experiential Workshop with Dr. Katharine Wilkinson
When maps come up short and the path ahead is uncertain, how do we find our way? In her new book Climate Wayfinding, Dr. Katharine Wilkinson (co-founder of the All We Can Save Project) offers a compassionate and empowering guide for navigating through ache to action, doubt to possibility. Whether we’re steeped in climate or newly curious, we can look inward with care, outward with curiosity, and forward with courage to shape our unique contributions to healing the planet we call home.
Join Dr. Wilkinson for an experiential workshop, engaging with key concepts and approaches from Climate Wayfinding. You’ll leave feeling more deeply connected to kindred community, more enlivened in this work, and more equipped for the journey ahead.
2:30–3:00 p.m. | Reception & Book Signing with Katharine Wilkinson
