The phrase “eat the rich”—attributed to Jean-Jacques Rousseau during the French Revolution—has exploded across Gen Z and Millennial consciousness through films such as Parasite, The Menu, and Glass Onion; the resurgence of democratic socialism; and viral moments like Amazon union leader Christian Smalls wearing the slogan to the White House. Motörhead’s anthem of the same name—which Peaches Christ has performed live—provides the evening’s sonic backbone.

On Friday the 13th, we’re putting a drag queen, a centi-millionaire running for Congress, a children’s book author who writes about werewolves who devour predatory men, and other provocative voices on the same stage—and asking them all the same question: Who’s really eating whom?”

Enjoy an original performance by Peaches Christ, warm-up conversation with Saikat Chakrabarti, main-stage panel with Maggie Tokuda-Hall, Peaches Christ, and other guests moderated by Michelle Meow, plus a rooftop after-party overlooking the Bay Bridge.

About the Speakers

Peaches Christ has been a cornerstone of San Francisco’s LGBTQ+ arts scene for more than 25 years, creating the legendary Midnight Mass movie series, and she is the co-creator of the annual Terror Vault immersive experience. Her 10th-anniversary Midnight Mass season was filmed for a national television series executive produced by Mark Cuban on HDnet—connecting her directly to the billionaire class she now interrogates. She wrote and directed the cult horror film All About Evil starring Natasha Lyonne, and her work received a retrospective at the de Young Museum.

Maggie Tokuda-Hall is the Oakland-based author of the bestselling children’s book Love in the Library—which tells her grandparents’ love story inside the Minidoka Japanese internment camp—and Squad, a queer horror graphic novel about werewolf girls who literally devour sexually predatory men. When Scholastic asked her to remove the phrase “virulent racism” from her author’s note about Japanese internment, she said no—directly to their CEO—and went public. As a founding leader and president of Authors Against Book Bans, she is on the front lines of a national fight about who gets to tell stories and who gets erased. Tokuda-Hall was recommended for this event by fellow author Sarah Gailey, who called her “fantastically sharp and funny” and said they share the same beliefs about “capitalism, wealth consolidation, and camp.”

Saikat Chakrabarti is the rare Silicon Valley success story who traded stock options for a political revolution. A founding engineer at Stripe who holds at least $50 million in equity, Chakrabarti left tech to serve as director of organizing technology for Bernie Sanders’ 2016 campaign, then ran Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s historic 2018 upset victory and served as her chief of staff, where he led the development of the Green New Deal. He co-founded Justice Democrats, the organization that recruits and supports progressive insurgent candidates. Now he is running for Nancy Pelosi’s open congressional seat in California’s 11th District on a platform of taxing billionaires, Medicare for All, and transforming the economy that “made Donald Trump possible.” Peaches Christ personally recommended him for the panel after a conversation about his frustrations with billionaire influence.

Moderator Celso Dulay II is a media entrepreneur, digital rights advocate, and community organizer championing LGBTQ+ visibility and equality. A graduate of City College of San Francisco's broadcast media arts program, Dulay served as director and producer of GNEWS! from 2014 to 2019, a weekly LGBTQ+ news show on YouTube delivering community-focused content under the tagline "Get All Your Gay in Just One Day." Working with his husband Chris Knight as co-producer, Dulay built a platform providing essential news and representation for the LGBTQ+ community. When Google Ads blocked their show from advertising, Dulay and Knight spearheaded a class-action lawsuit against Google and YouTube from 2019 to 2023, recruiting fellow LGBTQ+ content creators to challenge discriminatory practices and fight for fair digital access. During the pandemic, Dulay co-founded the Glitter Worthy Store, a local LGBTQ+ fashion brand raising funds for nonprofits and supporting SF Bay Area queer artists. Earlier this year, Dulay and Knight launched MOUSA.I., an AI marketing agency, with a new division being introduced in June 2025 called “THE GAYGENCY” that will cater to LGBTQ+ brands and causes. Through media work, advocacy, and entrepreneurship, Dulay continues fighting for LGBTQ+ representation and digital rights—making him an ideal voice for human rights conversations in our digital age.

Moderator Michelle Meow is the producer and host of "The Michelle Meow Show" on KPIX+. She is also a member of Commonwealth Club World Affairs' Board of Governors, and the former president of the board of San Francisco Pride.
