This lecture will examine some of the major issues informing the debate over free speech. We will consider broad principles underlying this debate and look at recent events that have sharpened it: the administration's attacks on the media, universities, and most recently, on Senator Mark Kelly for reminding troops that they have a right to disobey illegal orders.

We will encourage active input by all participants to express their views in the Q&A discussion at the end.
