Leadership Circle Chinatown Walking Tour

Join a Commonwealth Club World Affairs neighborhood adventure with acclaimed tour guide and historian Rick Evans.

Enjoy an immersive walk through the story-soaked alleyways of America's oldest Chinatown. Uncover the neighborhood's layered past—from Gold Rush-era immigration and benevolent associations to the shadowy lore of the tongs and the resilience of the community that thrives here today.

Notes

9:45 a.m., check-in: Meet in front of Cafe de La Presse, located at 352 Grant Street near Chinatown Gate. 
10 a.m. Walk departs
Walk lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours and ends at Portsmouth Square, located at 745 Kearny St., at the corner of Clay and Kearny.

The temple visit requires walking up three flights of stairs

The tour operates rain or shine

Limited to 12 participants; tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be sold at check-in

Walks with fewer than six participants will be canceled. (You will receive notification of this at least three days in advance.)
