Lucas Guttentag: Navigating Immigration and Law in an Uncertain World—What’s at Stake and How It Affects You

We will delve into the evolving landscape of immigration over the past decade. This talk will explore the historical forces behind recent reforms and restrictions, the impact of new policies under the Trump administration, and the shifting realities of asylum and border dynamics. Our speaker, Lucas Guttentag, will also examine key legal battles and discuss forward-thinking solutions to navigate these complex challenges.

We see madness from Washington: Grad students snatched off the street, a judge getting arrested for delaying an ICE arrest, tender age citizens being deported. What the heck is happening? Don’t miss this timely and thought-provoking conversation on one of the most pressing issues of our time!

Lucas Guttentag is a professor at Yale and Stanford. He is a leading expert on immigration law. He founded the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project and has litigated complex class action and appellate cases at every level of the federal judiciary, and has argued before the Supreme Court. Guttentag served in senior policy positions in the Obama and Biden administrations, and he created the Immigration Policy Tracking Project, a dynamic website profiled in The New Yorker and The New York Times that tracks every Trump-era immigration policy. Read his article "The Bureaucratic Barriers to Immigration Reform."
