Mervyn King and Michael Lewis: How to Make Good Decisions

Money—it’s something we think about constantly and yet often don’t know what to do with. Financial decisions are particularly challenging when we live in a world of unknowns, which threaten the desired outcomes of every choice we make.

This uncertainty and its consequences is the focus of Mervyn King and John Kay’s new book, Radical Uncertainty: Decision-Making Beyond the Numbers. What do we do when we don’t know what to do? We can never have all the information required to optimize our economic decisions, but the failure to come to terms with this reality has led us to build our largest financial organizations, develop major policy decisions and create business structures on shifting sands. We’ve been led by the false belief that the numbers provided by economic models give us the answer, but they don’t.

Join us for a discussion with author Mervyn King on radical uncertainty and what we must consider beyond the numbers when making our decisions. The conversation will be moderated by Michael Lewis, best-selling author of Moneyball and The Big Short. Come for what is sure to be a witty back-and-forth between two authors who both have a knack for understanding some of the greatest economic issues of our time—and more importantly, know how to communicate them in an effective and engaging way!
