Blue Shield of California has been working to advance LGBTQ+ equality at all levels, and some of its greatest ambassadors have been its own employees. When Angelica Matsuno’s son first came out as trans, she turned to her employer, Blue Shield of California, for guidance and support, because she wanted to be a true ally during her son’s transition. Shield Pride, the company's LGBTQ+ employee-led resource group, provided Angelica with a supportive environment at work, guidance and resources to help her and her family through her son’s ongoing transition.

Angelica’s experience has inspired her to leverage her role at work to start developing a provider-and-doctor education that includes sensitivity training when LGBTQ+ and other gender-nonconforming patients seek care. Join us for a free lunch and in-depth discussion from a pathbreaker.
