Joni Seager: Silencing Women Is a Full-Time Job

Joni Seager, Bentley University, Boston; Author, The Atlas of Women in the World

A large portion of resistance to women’s rights and autonomy is rooted in efforts to silence them – sometimes symbolically, sometimes literally. An expert on global women’s issues, Seager will provide an international survey of women’s rights and the devices, contrivances, laws and strictures she says are deployed to silence them. In conjunction with the art exhibit by Carol Turner, Seager will also discuss women’s resistance efforts.
