"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum"

Join us for a lively discussion on the nature and role of the public affairs forum in our globalized world where rapid technological changes and scientific discoveries are constantly advancing our opportunities for dialogue.

The public sphere, the space of communication and debate on public affairs, is the essential component of sociopolitical organization because it is the space where people come together as citizens and articulate their views to influence the political institutions of society. This public sphere has also shifted from the national to the global and is increasingly constructed around ever-changing global communication networks.

We will discuss how this new public sphere may enhance the dialogue between different social collectives and their cultures in the hope of sharing meaning and understanding. We will also explore how we may learn to become more effective participants and contributors.
