The Book of Forgiving

Reverend Mpho A. Tutu, Episcopal Priest, Founder and Executive Director, the Tutu Institute for Prayer & Pilgrimage; Co-author, The Book of Forgiving

Reverend Mpho Tutu offers insights into the art of forgiveness gleaned from South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which was headed by her father, Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Not many believed that a society riven by apartheid's history of violence and hatred could ever heal and transform itself. Tutu explains that the four keys to South Africa's successful avoidance of the endless and unyielding cycle of pain and retribution are: admitting the harm done, telling the story and seeing the anguish caused, asking for forgiveness and granting forgiveness, and renewing or releasing the relationship.
