A Doctor's Hopes for Afghanistan

Dr. Nafisa Abdullah, M.D., Humanitarian; Educator

Dr. Ruth Shapiro, Social Entrepreneur in Residence, The Commonwealth Club

Learn about the prospects of peace in Afghanistan and what's being done to address that country's health care situation from a Kabul-born doctor and humanitarian. Dr. Abdullah earned her medical doctorate in Kabul and was an attending ob-gyn physician at Kaiser L.A. for more 20 years. She has lectured widely on health care rights and civil rights, particularly of women, children and non-combatants in war-torn countries. Over the last decade, she has returned annually to hospitals in Afghanistan to train new doctors.
