Since their inception about 30 years ago, microfinance programs have helped lift millions of people out of abject poverty around the world. Such programs have proliferated in recent years, leading some analysts to ring alarm bells and make comparisons to the sub-prime mortgage crisis. Sinha will provide an update on microfinance and discuss future prospects, including ways to avoid another financial calamity.
