Hunger Strike for Transgender Visibility?
Join us in-person for a discussion of the use of hunger strikes as a means to protest for social justice. We'll look at the attempts across the country to roll back progress that has been made as well as discuss continued discrimination against the transgender community in America.
Our special guest for this program will be Sacramento-based human rights activist Livia Wolfe. Since coming out to the world in 2017, she has been a visible and active presence on transgender issues, including lobbying legislators on Capitol Hill—including then-Senator Kamala Harris—and broadcasting the first National Trans Visibility March in Washington, D.C.
As a survivor of a traumatic brain injury, Wolfe advocates for mental health and traumatic brain injury treatment, and assisted Sacramento County with its "Stop Stigma Sacramento" mental health campaign. She is also a runway model who performed at New York Fashion Week and Los Angeles Fashion Week in 2022. Later in 2023, she will premiere her cooking show, "Lit Cuisine with Celebrity Chef Livia Wolfe."
