Patagonia Expedition

Join a 13-day expedition to Patagonia during the Southern Hemisphere’s summer, and featuring study leader Dr. Jared Diamond, author of five best-selling books about human societies and human evolution.

Enjoy a four- night cruise aboard the expedition ship M/V Stella Australis and sail through the legendary Strait of Magellan, the Beagle Channel, and the fjords of Tierra del Fuego to Ushuaia. Look for Magellanic Penguin colonies and the six types of seal and sea lions that inhabit this region during Zodiac excursions to the shoreline.

Then venture inland to El Calafate to explore Glacier National Park declared by UNESCO as part of the Natural Heritage of Humanity. Marvel at the massive glacier, Perito Moreno. Continue to the Andes into Chilean Patagonia to spend three nights at the luxurious Remota Lodge situated in Puerto Natales, the gateway to the crown jewel of Patagonia, Torres del Paine National Park. The park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve set amid monolithic granite spires, azure colored lakes and glaciers. Here condors ride on currents above the Andes and fox, rhea and guanacos give chase in the windswept pampas.

Optional pre-tour to Easter Island is available.
