Botswana Safari

Desert Sunset, Delta Dawn
Thu, May 17, 2012 - Sun, May 27, 2012
Considered by many to be Africa's ultimate safari destination, Botswana is revered for its breathtaking landscapes, spectacular wildlife, and exclusive accommodations. Discover the best that Botswana has to offer, from the vast Kalahari Desert to the fertile Okavango Delta. By day, venture out in open 4X4 vehicles and mokoros in search of black-maned lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, cheetah, and the exceedingly rare African wild dog. In the evening, watch for lion passing right under the camp’s walkway and elephant splashing in the river while you dine. Fall asleep to the sound of hippo crunching on water lettuce just outside your door and awaken to the songs of hundreds of birds welcoming a new day.   Begin your wildlife safari in the famed Kalahari plains, a vast semi-desert region that covers more than three-quarters of Botswana. Enjoy wildlife viewing in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, one of Africa’s largest and most pristine wildlife parks. Then, fly low across the plains towards one of the world’s most distinctive regions, the Okavango Delta. This unique system of waterways supports a vast array of animal and plant life that would have otherwise have been a dry Kalahari savannah. Enjoy a serene ride down the quiet waterways on a traditional mokoro; take guided walking safaris and wildlife drives in search of famed Kalahari wildlife; and enjoy the beauty of the region from your luxurious tented camps. Leading our safari is one of Southern Africa's top naturalist guides, Dave Hamman. Optional pre-trip extension to Cape Town, and optional post-trip extension to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the natural  world.
