Gifts of Stock
The Club welcomes donations of securities, including stock and mutual funds. Appreciated stock donations may help you avoid capital gains taxes and can help reduce your income tax burden.

To make a stock gift, notify your broker that you wish to transfer securities into The Commonwealth Club's account with Charles Schwab & Co. You will need to give your broker the following information:

For DTC-Eligible Securites:
DTC Clearing 0164, Code 40

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact The Club's Vice President of Development and Membership at the address listed below.

It is very important that you notify The Commonwealth Club about the gift transaction at the same time you instruct your broker to transfer securities into our Charles Schwab brokerage account.

In order for us to properly receive the gifted shares into our account and to provide an accurate and timely acknowledgement for your tax records, please send us:

  • A concurrent notification with the donor's name
  • The type and number of shares being transferred
  • The name and phone number of the donor's broker

This notification should be sent to:

Individual Retirement Account Gifts
This is an easy way for you to contribute to The Club without tax complications. The Pension Protection Act of 2006 allows tax-free distributions from traditional and Roth Individual Retirement Account assets to qualified charitable organizations.

During 2006 and up to December 31, 2009 a donor can transfer up to $100,000 per year to a qualified charity with no tax implications.

To qualify the donor must be at least 70 1/2 years old, and the gift must be directly transferred to the charity.

For more information, please contact your retirement account manager and The Club's Development Office.

Employee Contribution Programs and Matching Gifts
Support The Club with contributions through a payroll deduction plan. You may also give to The Club via the United Way. Simply list our name on the form they provide - no code is required. And many employers will match your charitable contributions, increasing your gift to The Club at no extra cost to you! Consult with your Human Resources Department to see if you qualify for matching gift or employee contribution programs.

Planned Giving
Please consider including The Club in your estate planning. There are many ways to help The Club provide a nonpartisan forum for the next 100 years, including bequests, charitable trusts, and other vehicles.

For further information on the giving vehicles listed above, or to make a donation, please contact our Development Office using the information listed below. And thank you in advance for your generous support!
