To mark its Centennial year in February, 2003, The Club launched it Medallion Speakers Series. The program, which saluted leaders of that time who positively shaped that era in history with their ideas and innovations, was continued into 2004 due to overwhelming popularity. Honorees represented the gamut of fields-- from media and politics, to culture and science. Each awardee was asked to address what he saw as the most significant challenge confronting humanity in the 21st century and offer possible remedies. In recognition of their respective contributions, each was presented with a Commonwealth Club Medallion, struck to mark The Club’s one hundred years of debating critical ideas and issues.
