Shahid Buttar is challenging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the 2020 election, hoping to succeed her as the representative for California D-12. In a district where Pelosi regularly is reelected with more than 70 or 80 percent of the vote, it's an uphill climb. But Buttar is riding a wave of Democratic Socialist enthusiasm, and he believes he has a chance to topple the country's top Democrat.
