O’Rourke is the author of thirteen books, including Republican Party Reptile and Give War a Chance. Three have been listed on The New York Times Bestseller List. He has served as editor-in-chief at National Lampoon, as foreign affairs desk chief at Rolling Stone, and his work has appeared in numerous publications, including Vanity Fair, The Atlantic Monthly, and The American Spectator. Currently he is the H. L. Mencken Research Fellow at the Cato Institute.
