Puneet Talwar, Ass’t. U.S. Secretary of State: Foreign Policy Priorities

Puneet Talwar, Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of Political-Military Affairs

Talwar will give an overview of global developments, from ISIL to Iran to Russia. Informed by his current position as the State Department’s principal liaison with the Department of Defense and his previous experience at the White House and on Capitol Hill, Talwar will discuss the major foreign policy trends of the day – including those that are not necessarily making the headlines.

Talwar manages several critical components of U.S. foreign policy, including the maintenance of the State Department’s global security relationships, the provision of international security assistance, the negotiation of international security agreements and the implementation of the president’s Export Control Reform Initiative. From 2009 to 2014, Mr. Talwar served as the special assistant to the president and senior director for Iraq, Iran and the Gulf States at the White House National Security Council.
