Mousavian served as spokesman for Iran’s team in nuclear negotiations with the EU and the International Atomic Energy Agency from 2003-2005. In 2007, Amb. Mousavian was arrested and charged with espionage and leaking information to European nations. Though he was cleared of the initial charges, he has been barred from serving as a diplomat for five years due to his opposition to the Ahmadinejad administration’s foreign and nuclear policy.
