Geordie Lynch, Director, City of White Gold

The discovery of silver in 1859 propelled San Francisco from a dusty mining boomtown into a world-class metropolis. Director Lynch shares the subject and story of his historical documentary film, City of White Gold, which tells of epic struggle for wealth and power in the Wild West, beginning with the fateful unearthing of the legendary Comstock Lode. Lynch intersperses video clips from the film-in-progress and readings from letters of the era with a fascinating account of how silver shaped San Francisco in the 19th century Gilded Age.
