Equity markets are not giving a lot of love to clean tech startups these days. One concern is how reliant they are on government mandates or subsidies. Another is whether Silicon Valley venture capitalists are pulling back after realizing it is tougher to make their hurdle rates in the slow-moving and capital-intensive power sector. Project finance is a more promising story.

Entrepreneurs are forging ahead with exciting innovations on the supply and demand side of energy production and delivery. We’ll look at hot sectors, exciting companies, job creation and what skills are in demand by fast-moving start-ups aiming to revolutionize how California and America will power the future.
