The North American Idea: A Vision of a Continental Future
Dr. Robert A. Pastor, Professor of International Relations and Founder and Director, Center for North American Studies, American University; Author, The North American Idea
To compete against a rising Asia and a united Europe, former National Security Council official Pastor proposes that the United States seek a deeper form of collaboration with its two neighbors and largest trading partners, Canada and Mexico. A North American community – different from Europe's – might not only enhance American competitiveness, it could provide added security to all three countries in the turbulent 21st century, says Pastor. He will explain his bold vision.
