The Fire and Elegance of Argentine Tango

Christy Coté, Founder, Artistic Director and Choreographer, LiberTango Dancers
Rose Vierling, Performer, LiberTango Dancers
Jesse Dishart, Performer, LiberTango Dancers
Adolfo Caszarry, Performer, LiberTango Dancers

Born among the impoverished immigrants of Buenos Aires in the late 1800s, the tango became one of the most stylish and popular dances in Europe and the U.S. Its roots can be traced to the waltz, polka and mazurka, as well as the Spanish-Cuban habanera and African candombe. Join us for a talk on the history of the tango and its different styles, a dance performance and a short lesson for those who wish to participate.
