Common sense tells us that we get fat because we eat more calories than we expend. So why does eating less and exercising more not always work? German and Austrian researchers have suggested that we should consider obesity a disorder of excess fat accumulation and pay attention to the hormones and enzymes that regulate our fat tissue. The result: an entirely different explanation for why we get fat and an entirely different cure.
