Lebanon has been plagued by war, political instability and refugee crises since its inception as a country in 1920. Simonian, an Assyrian Christian who was raised in Lebanon, will discuss the complicated ethnic and religious history of Lebanon and the sectarian conflict, which was the topic of his 2011 master’s thesis.
