Frequently seen on American television as a spokesperson for Yasser Arafat, Hanan Mikhail-Ashrawi has developed a reputation for clearly articulating the causes and concerns of the Palestinian struggle for statehood. The Commonwealth Club hosted her on November 5 at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco. The question and answer session was moderated by PBS "NewsHour" correspondent Elizabeth Farnsworth. In December, The Club invited scholar Shai Feldman from Tel Aviv University to present another view. Watch for a transcript of his talk in an upcoming issue.
