Program Coordinator

Position Title: Program Coordinator Reports to: Program Director

Position Overview
The Commonwealth Club of California, a nonprofit public affairs forum, seeks a Program Coordinator to work with the Program Department.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the Club's Marin County programming. The primary focus of this programming is “Marin Conversations,” a program that will take place nine times per year, with possible additional extra events on a case-by-case basis. The Program Coordinator may also have the opportunity to work with Club staff on other programming. Production of programs is everything from brainstorming speaker ideas, to booking the speaker(s), venue and moderator, promoting and marketing the event, assigning volunteer jobs and taking care of all details relating to the event.

The Program Coordinator will work with the Marin Conversations program committee to find new speakers, “in conversation” partners and all other aspects of producing excellent monthly programs.

Primary Duties
· Recruiting and booking speakers
· Booking and producing at least nine programs per year in Marin County
· Coordinating all logistics for Marin County programming. This includes, but is not limited to:
   o Event idea generation
   o Issuing speaker invitations
   o Booking venues
   o Acting as main Club contact with the Marin Community Foundation and for all marketing efforts
· Handling on-site program logistics in Marin County
· Assisting with logistics of grant-funded and corporate-sponsored programming
· Delegating responsibilities to and supervising interns
· Conducting targeted marketing/outreach for featured programs

Experience scheduling speaking events
Experience as a radio or TV news/talk producer a plus
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field from four-year college/university
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in busy service environment
Ability to prioritize various duties while maintaining a polite and professional demeanor
A detail-oriented and organized working personality, with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment
Ability to work effectively with volunteers and utilize volunteer assistance
Working knowledge of basic office applications (Word, Excel, Internet, relational databases such as Blackbaud or Tessitura)

This position is part-time and will be structured on a contractual basis.
