The Commonwealth Club Volunteer Corps
Volunteer at events and help to keep public discourse alive.
Thank you for your interest in joining the exciting team of people who make Club programming possible. With a minimal staff, the Club would not be able to put on events without our volunteers. To sign up for the next volunteer orientation, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteers perform several tasks at Club events including reception set up, acting as host to attendees, checking tickets at the door, ushering, collecting question cards, putting out seating signs, timing events for radio broadcast, and aiding Club staff at will-call.
Event volunteer assignments correspond with the Club’s program times, daytime assignments are generally from 11:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and evenings from 5:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Volunteers are expected to arrive on time and ready to support Club staff.
Length of Commitment
After members have gone through the three steps described below, the Club expects event volunteers to volunteer for at least six events a year.
The Club regards event volunteers as an extension of the staff and require volunteers to be dressed in business casual attire. We request that volunteers refrain from wearing blue jeans, shorts, and flip flops while volunteering.
There are four branches of programming at The Commonwealth Club. For more information regarding the unique volunteer process and policies for each branch, contact the person corresponding to your area of interest.

STEP 3—SHADOW EVENT
At the volunteer orientation, you will sign up for an event to attend where you will shadow an event volunteer and learn the ropes from our team of expert helpers.
